Assigning technicians and using the Dispatch Board

The Dispatch Board is at Field Service → Dispatch Board. It's a kanban with the four work-order statuses as columns: Scheduled · In Progress · Completed · Closed.

Drag and drop

Every work-order card is draggable. Drop it on another column to change status. The customer portal refreshes in real time and the audit log records who moved it.

Filtering

The top bar has filters:

  • Technician — show only one tech's load.
  • Priority — only Emergency, only Critical, etc.
  • Type — Corrective, Preventive, Inspection, Installation, Emergency.
  • Date range — defaults to today + tomorrow.

Combine filters. The view is shareable by URL.

Assigning a tech

Two ways:

  1. Drag-target on the card — click the avatar slot on a card; a picker opens with your active technicians. Click one to assign.
  2. Inline on the order — open the WO detail page, scroll to Schedule, pick from the Assigned to dropdown.

Multiple techs can be on one order. The first one is the primary; others are secondary.

Reassigning

Just pick a different tech. The previous tech gets a notification in the mobile app that they've been unassigned (if they're online). The new tech gets a notification that they have a new job.

Priority

Emergency and Critical jobs show with a red ring on the Dispatch Board. We sort each column so the highest priority floats to the top: Emergency → Critical → High → Medium → Low.

Tips

  • Use keyboard arrow keys when a card is focused to move it between columns without a mouse.
  • The + New order button (top-right) creates a new WO pre-filled with today's date.
  • Hover a card to see the customer's address, phone, and any tags at a glance.
